As a community stakeholders, we understand the pressing need to support the growth and development of our next generations of leaders. Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic, many educators have said COVID-19 and/or the shift to remote learning has caused their student's emotional distress and created problems with attendance. Administrators and teachers cite that an increased number of students have "given up" on school and show signs of depression, loneliness, and anxiety. Teachers also find that student confidence has plummeted, and it is easier for them to disengage from learning. Throughout the last two years, many students have dealt with family losses and are fearful of COVID-19 and social interactions.
The Emerging Young Leaders seeks to be a solution to help underserved students navigate today’s complex world. Through our programming students will gain soft skills needed for the challenges and changes they are facing during this time as well as the ability to enhance the confidence and self-awareness they need to have a sense of belonging in society.
Key Areas of Focus
This Summit is a kickoff event that will lead to our pilot program Emerging Young Leaders. We are excited to provide youth development programs for underserved high school students in the Metro Atlanta Area. Our mission is to develop a next-generation that is confident and healthy so they can become productive and effective leaders in society at large. Our company is composed of certified John Maxwell Consultants who partner with local school districts and youth organizations to empower young people to increase academic achievement, reduce risk behaviors, develop critical soft skills, and enhance career exploration and readiness.
We provide a year-round pipeline program where student participate bi-weekly in sessions that focus on five key areas including Leadership, Personal Growth, Communication, Goal Setting, and College/Career Readiness. There are interactive and informational workshops, community service, and outreach activities. Additionally, our evidence-based curriculum, WAVE, provides educational strategies that close the achievement gap and enable the students to meet the state's challenging academic standards. The WAVE Youth Leadership curriculum improves the educational opportunities of low-income and disadvantaged students.
On Saturday, September 30th, 2023, the Emerging Young Leaders 2023 Summit will bring together underserved high school students, youth leaders, community stakeholders, and parents. This summit is designed to be a rigorous and thought-provoking leadership training day. The purpose of the Emerging Leaders Student Summit is to engage selected students in personal growth and leadership development activities that are not only proven to increase students’ leadership capability but also enhance students’ confidence and self-awareness.
This event and program will be no charge for students, therefore, community support is needed. When you support this summit, you choose to support the personal, professional, and educational growth of the future leaders of our community. As a result, you will be part of the enhancement of a culture of leadership among our next generation within Metro Atlanta and beyond.
